A Walk around our homestead

Our little homestead, and, we love it!!

I thought I would share with you all some pictures of around our homestead taken in the last few days or so. I hope you enjoy them. It is amazing how much the garden changes in just a week or so.

Here is our Rhubarb patch...I cut some down already, and, I need to do more, or, find someone who likes rhubard.

Here is our horseradish patch. Hubby actually has some more growing in two other places, so, we actually have more than this, which, is really more than a normal family can consume.

Our black raspberry bushes. If I could only get enough off to make a pie, I would love it, but, everytime I send the children out to pick they only come back with a small bowl full, so, I let them just eat them.

We have three blueberry bushes, and, they are full this year. Our children also, work for a few weeks picking blueberries, and, they are able to pick a 4 qt. bucket full each day to take home, if they want for free...which is a real blessing!

We also have 5 apple trees, that have never done extremely well, but, this year hubby has both sprayed, and, pruned, and, the trees are full, so, we are hoping for a good harvest.

We also have this one big cherry tree...we are not exactly sure what the name is but, the cherry is yellow with some red on it, and, they taste wonderful, but, more years than not, they have come on so good, but, start turning brown, before they are ready to pick.

We also have 3 pear trees, two are young ones, and, one is an older tree that was here when we moved here. We have actually never gotten a great harvest of pears yet, but, we do hope to some day.

This is our only peach tree. It is still small, and, only has a handful of peaches this year.

Here is a picture of our garden. It actually already looks alot different already, and, I just took the picture 5 days ago.

Well, I need to get off here, and, get my laundry on the line, and, head out to pick some strawberries.

Hope you all have a wonderful day filled with the Lord's blessings!

Lots of Love,

Marsha

After A Long Break...

I have decided it was time to get back to blogging. It just takes time, that I need to fit into my schedule, because, it is worth it, and, I really do enjoy doing it.

We were able to get a new trampoline for the children, which, we put right outside my kitchen window. What a blessing it has been to be able to see the little ones, while, they are jumping, and, it also has a safety net, which, is a huge blessing to me!!
I guess some of the most important things that have happened since I last blogged would be that school is over, and, two of our girls have graduated this year. Gretchie graduated from college with her B.S. in nursing, and, will be starting her nursing career in July at Children's Hospital in Pittsburg, as an operating room nurse.
Meggie also graduated with High Honors from High School and will be starting college this August as an English Education major.
I am really proud of both girls they were both able to keep very good grades while working more than part time.
Gretchie's graduation was on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The nursing program had their program indoors, even though the weather was actually beautiful that day.

Megan's graduation was on Wednesday, June 4, 2008. It had to be indoors because all it did was rain that day. We were really hoping for an outdoor graduation, but, I guess we will have to wait, and, see if in 3 years when Elijah graduates, if the weather will cooperate.

This is Meggie the night of her Senior Prom. She looked very pretty in her black dress with her red hair.

Our garden is now started, and, hopefully on its way to producing some very much needed food for our family. Mostly right now the potatoes are the only thing that is
really doing well. The other things are just starting to come on, so, I guess it will be awhile yet before we are eating lots of good stuff from the garden.

Well, I need to get off of here, and, go check on my cookies. We are making cinnamon jumbos. They are truly one of my favorite cookies, so, soft, and, moist.

Tonight for dinner we are having chicken pot pie, salad, and, a big bowl of fruit.

Hope you have a wonderful day full of the Lord's blessings!!!

Lots of Love,

Marsha
